Amazon Lauches Textbook Rental

Many students already shop at Amazon for used textbooks, to avoid paying the expensive versions from their school bookstores. Always on the uptake of shoppers habits, Amazon is adding a new feature to help college students find what they want at a lower rate.

Yesterday, Amazon announced that they will now be entering into the realm of textbook rentals, according to their press release.

How it works:

To rent a textbook, simply search Amazon.com for the book, select “Rent Now,” choose shipping and payment options, and check out. All textbook rentals are Fulfilled by Amazon and are eligible for Free Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25, and Prime Free Two-Day Shipping. At the end of the rental period, returns are free and simple with a prepaid, printable label.

To support this new venture, Amazon is also highlighting their free Student membership, which entails:

six months of Free Two-Day Shipping on millions of items, plus exclusive offers, and then up to four years of Amazon Prime at 50% off. Students can learn more by visiting www.amazon.com/joinstudent.
