The C-SPAN Supreme Court timeline includes videos of scholars talking about the significance of some of the cases included in the timeline. As part of the C-SPAN Classroom lesson plan, the timeline is designed to help students learn how the rulings in landmark cases have impacted civil rights and liberties, Federalism, and the Presidency over the course the history of the United States. Membership is free for C-SPAN Classroom to view the lesson plan, but the timeline itself is open to the public.
The interactive timeline features facts, photos, interviews with experts, and other film and video marking significant events in the Supreme Court’s history, dating from its first meeting in New York in 1790 up to the present. Included in the timeline are major cases, Chief Justices of the Court, and the different locations where the Supreme Court has met throughout its history.
