Facebook App lets you Cosponser Congressional Bills

via Mashable

A unique way of getting your voice heard by Congress brought to you by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.)

Citizen Cosponsor is a new platform that lets users show their support of Congressional bills with a click of a button. Built on Facebook’s Open Graph, the design will easily integrate into the user’s news feed and timeline. Once the app is activated, users will be able to vote for the bill, and also receive notifications and track the progress of the bill.

There are currently only 6 bills, 5 of which are Republican-sponsored, one of which is Democrat-sponsored. At this time, users can only vote for the bill they cannot suggest changes or discuss the bill. The app has been fully funded by the Cantor camp as a method of engaging with the public. Inspiration for this new developments comes from two sources: Rep. Issa’s (R-Calif.) Madison Project as well as the White House’s “We the People” online petitions.

Currently, the only way to access the application is to go through Eric Cantor’s Homepage and login with your Facebook account. You can then proceed to click away at the bills which you want to support.
